Site Preparation

Service Image

Good construction starts with a site that is properly cleared, graded, drained and accessible. Carolina Dozer prepares residential and commercial building sites throughout Western North Carolina, including steep and difficult mountain properties where access and runoff have to be planned before the first foundation work begins.

Building pads, access, drainage and rough grading

Site preparation can include clearing and stump removal, stripping unsuitable material, cut-and-fill, building-pad grading, driveway and construction access, drainage ditches, culverts, utility trenching, rock removal, soil compaction and final shaping around the work area. We can also coordinate foundation and footer excavation so the next phase starts on a cleaner, more workable site.

Mountain homesites need a complete plan

On a steep property, the driveway, building pad and drainage system affect each other. Cutting a pad changes where runoff travels. Building access can require culverts or ditches. Material excavated from the homesite may need to be placed and compacted elsewhere on the property. Planning those relationships early helps reduce rework and unnecessary hauling.

Carolina Dozer can incorporate surface-water mitigation, slope shaping and erosion control into site preparation where needed. We have completed mountain-top homesite work in Deep Gap, large clearing and site development in Boone and residential and commercial grading throughout Wilkes County.

Ready for the next trade

The goal is not simply to move dirt. The goal is to leave practical access, useful grades and a building area that gives surveyors, concrete crews, builders and utility contractors a workable site. Our equipment fleet and hauling capability allow us to manage clearing, excavation, grading and material placement as one coordinated earthwork scope.

We serve Boone, Blowing Rock, Banner Elk, West Jefferson, Wilkesboro, North Wilkesboro, Lenoir, Deep Gap and nearby Western NC communities. Schedule a site assessment to review terrain, access, drainage and the planned structure.
