Matthieu and Ariana needed a permanent, low maintenance fix for runoff that kept washing soil around their Ferguson mountain home. The solution had to control the water above the house, stabilize the damaged slopes and leave the property ready for vegetation.

Before the project

Water from the upper logging road was crossing steep red clay, cutting channels behind the house and carrying sediment into the lower drainage area. Previous repairs addressed individual spots but did not control the source.

The solution

Control the water

We installed an upper diversion ditch and corrected the driveway and terrace pitch so runoff would follow intentional drainage paths.

Rebuild the ground

The crew cleared brush, removed failed material and reshaped the bank and terrace to slow the water and create stable transitions.

Protect the finished work

Class B riprap, clean 3 inch stone and geotextile protected high flow areas. Topsoil, clover, mountain seed and Aspen wood fiber matting protected the rebuilt soil while vegetation established.

The result

In eight working days, the property went from exposed clay and uncontrolled runoff to a connected erosion control system. Water is intercepted above the house, vulnerable banks are protected and the finished ground is ready for long term vegetation with minimal upkeep.
