The future homesite was still an existing grassed area when the homeowner contacted Carolina Dozer. The house footprint had been staked, but the ground had not yet been prepared for construction. The surface layer contained topsoil and organic material that needed to be removed before establishing the building-pad elevation.
Rather than placing fill or stone over the existing surface, the crew stripped the upper material and worked into the more suitable mineral subsoil below.
The crew laid out the 36' × 36' house pad and used a rotary laser transit throughout grading to maintain consistent elevations across the footprint. The pad was cut and shaped from the subgrade up instead of simply smoothing the existing surface.
Repeated laser checks helped establish a consistent construction surface and clean transitions into the surrounding terrain before foundation work begins.
The homeowner also needed dependable access for the upcoming home build. We stripped the driveway alignment through the topsoil until reaching firmer subsoil so the aggregate section would be supported by a more stable base.
This step helps reduce rutting, pumping and settlement once concrete trucks, material deliveries and other construction traffic begin using the driveway.
Carolina Dozer hauled the crusher-run aggregate to the property with our own dump truck. The stone was placed over the prepared subgrade, graded to the driveway profile and compacted into a dense driving surface.
Crusher run contains a combination of aggregate sizes and fines that lock together under compaction, making it a practical material for construction access and permanent gravel driveways when the underlying grade is properly prepared.
