Driveway Drainage & Culvert Installation

Service Image

Driveway washouts are often drainage problems before they are gravel problems. Carolina Dozer installs and replaces culverts, rebuilds roadside ditches and reshapes mountain driveways so runoff leaves the travel surface instead of following it downhill. We work on private roads, residential driveways, construction entrances and long mountain access roads across Western North Carolina.

Culverts, ditches and cross-drainage

A durable driveway needs a place for water to go. Depending on the site, we can install new cross-drain culverts, replace failed pipe, reestablish ditch depth and grade, armor culvert inlets and outlets with stone, shape water bars or broad swales and correct the pitch of the road surface. We also coordinate gravel placement and compaction after drainage corrections are complete.

This work is closely related to our driveway and private road construction and surface-water mitigation services. If a road is repeatedly losing gravel, developing deep ruts or carrying water down the wheel tracks, simply adding another load of stone usually does not correct the cause.

Mountain driveway drainage experience

Carolina Dozer works on steep and difficult access throughout Boone, Blowing Rock, West Jefferson, Deep Gap, Ferguson, Wilkesboro and neighboring mountain communities. Our Ferguson driveway project combined grading, ditch repair and gravel spreading to improve both access and runoff control.

Schedule an assessment if a driveway is washing out, a culvert is clogged or undersized, roadside ditches have filled in, or water is crossing the road in the wrong location. The site can be evaluated for pipe placement, outlet conditions, grade and the amount of reshaping needed.
